Never had the problem you're talking about with Amplitube. It would be great like you say if an ST3 instance would automatically pickup what was used in ST2.
Yeah I could use ST3 and call up the same sound IF I notated somewheres what patch I used in ST2 but I don't keep detailed notes as to what I use where. I've run into that I don't change things inside ST but any effects are inside PT. On to Sampletank - I understand what you're talking about. I used to love the cold but now as I age - not so much. Feels-like temps have been in the high 20's F. We've been in the low 40F range for a while now the bigger issue has been the wind. Some developers do this now, for example sonnox plugs, if you instantiate the new EQ over an older version it will restore your settings.
I've had long talks with Tom McClure, Paul Hudson, and Ryan Swannick at various tradeshows and via multiple emails, and they've mentioned it could be possible to code a bridge into older versions but so far have not implemented that. In the same way Philharmonic 2 will not recover the modified cello settings from Philharmonic 1, even though those files are contained within the Philharmonic 2 folder. It is very frustrating when in front of the client, you open a session from just a year or two ago with a piano track created with Sample Tank 2 Just to be clear, IK will allow the import of older Combi instruments and presets using SampleTank 3 CS Import Legacy Instruments feature If you instantiate the new EQ over an older version it will restore your settings. Yet Sample Tank 3 cannot recover the settings that were used in creating that sound. So on Amplitube I tried to replicate this cab/mic'ing using the 4x12 Recto Traditional Slant and a SM57 and M421 positioned all the way into the speaker and in the middle of the cone.
The IRs on the Axe Fx are two by OwnHammer: And obviously I have a preset with those settings for the Axe-Fx too. I was stimulated by the fact that Amplitube has a preset, called Theater of Dreams which, I checked, replicate Petrucci's settings from the Chaos in Motion 2007 Tour. Just having everything set in the same way and then making some considerations. Now the clip.well, the aim of this comparison wasn't trying to sound them similar. Thanks for pointing out the white noise hisses.I thought I was having some audio issues! I wasn't expecting you heard these! :lol Well it wasn't a trivia, the order in the title is the same of the clip
